The Wüstemoor am Blanksee Nature Reserve preserves and develops a unique rewetted lowland area that forms an important connection to the Elde river. It also includes a significant part of Blanksee lake. This wetland has become a vibrant habitat following successful rewetting measures. Rare and endangered plant and animal species, dependent on moist moorland and aquatic environments, find ideal conditions here. The diverse flora and fauna reflect the ecological significance of this area. Wüstemoor am Blanksee exemplifies successful moorland restoration, contributing significantly to the biotope network in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. A footpath to the west of the area offers access for observing this special natural landscape.
