The Steinbruch Fachingen nature reserve protects a unique landscape. This former limestone quarry, operational from 1878 to 1971, now hosts valuable habitats. Here, pioneer species thrive, along with rare organisms dependent on the specific environment of a former mining site. The geology of the area and the natural succession processes make it an important biotope network and a testament to nature's reclamation of former industrial land in the Lahn region, showcasing significant ecological and geological features.
