Spring

Nature Reserve

Description & Map

Summary

The Spring nature reserve is located in the Hunsrück (Rhineland-Palatinate) on the south-eastern flank of the Idarwald in the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park, a few kilometres east of Morbach and Baldenau Castle. The approximately 74-hectare area was placed under protection on 12 January 1988 by a legal decree of the Birkenfeld district. The main protected areas are the headwaters of the Springbach stream with its marshland forest as well as moor and peat areas, which serve as a habitat for rare plant species.
