Schimmelsbachtal

Summary

The Schimmelsbachtal Nature Reserve is located in the Westerwald district of Rhineland-Palatinate. The approximately 75-hectare area, designated as a protected site in 1990, lies northeast of the local municipality of Herschbach. To the west runs the B 413, to the east and south the state road L 292, and to the east the B 8. The reserve is traversed by the Schimmelsbach, a left tributary of the Holzbach. The purpose of protection is the preservation of the wetland as a habitat for rare and endangered wild-growing plants and plant communities, as well as a habitat for threatened animal species, and for scientific reasons.
