These varied conditions – supported by the remaining calcareous sand and the impermeable marl underground – create a mosaic of valuable biotopes. This rich variety of habitats fosters unique flora and fauna, specifically adapted to these distinct soil conditions. This area holds supra-regional importance and is an essential component of the "Kalkflugsandgebiet zwischen Mainz und Ingelheim" FFH area, as well as the European Natura 2000 network.
