Riserva Naturale Guidata di Campobrun

Nature Reserve

Description & Map

Summary

The reserve is located in the Lessini Mountains group, adjoining the Lessinia Natural Park and the Giazza State Forest (Verona province). It includes the Trentino section of the Giazza State Forest and extends over 426 hectares. The area is also part of the Natura 2000 network.

Description

This is an area of great naturalistic interest, as the degradation caused by the intensive exploitation of the land in the past has been restored through decades of careful forest and pasture management. The flora is particularly rich and includes rare species; the fauna is diverse, with expanding populations. Malga Campobrun, in the middle-upper part of the Reserve, is still regularly used for summer alpine grazing. The landscape is characterized by steep, rugged valleys interrupted by jagged cliffs and limestone ledges, which at higher altitudes give way to wide pasture meadows. The presence of numerous mountain huts supports hiking across all slopes and access to the main peaks.
