Riserva naturale provinciale Prà dell' Albi - Cei

Summary

A lake and a marsh make up this Nature Reserve, located at the headwaters of the Rio di Cimone in the municipality of Villa Lagarina. The reserve includes strictly protected areas, corresponding to the wetland habitats, and buffer zones where certain human activities are permitted. A visitor trail is available.

Description

The importance of the reserve is due to the vegetation of the marsh and of the lake, which consists of floating and submerged hydrophytes (including the striking common water lilies) and is surrounded by a belt of reeds, with some patches of sedge vegetation. It is a biotope of vital importance for the reproduction of many species of amphibians and reptiles, as well as being of ornithological interest due to the presence of species typical of Alpine birdlife.
