Die Schutzausweisung erfolgt zur Erhaltung und Optimierung von strukturreichen Laubmischwäldern auf stark geneigten Talhängen mit Schotterhalden in sonnenexponierter Lage sowie eines alten, nicht mehr im Abbau befindlichen Grauwackesteinbruches mit Abgrabungsgewässer als Lebens- und Rückzugsraum für bedrohte Tier- und Pflanzenarten, insbesondere felsbrütende Vögel (Uhu), Amphibien, Reptilien und Insekten.
