Description

The Liers- und Letherter Bach Nature Reserve in Bad Münstereifel protects two near-natural flowing watercourses and their diverse adjacent habitats. It serves as a vital refuge and living space for numerous endangered animal and plant species, including the Dipper, Red Kite, Goshawk, Brown Trout, as well as various dragonfly and amphibian species. A special plant species found here is the rare Autumn Crocus. The area preserves and promotes moist tall herb communities, wet and moist grasslands, and species-rich, native deciduous forests with valuable old and dead wood components. Reed beds, fen and swamp forests, and standing waters are also significant within the reserve. The characteristic stream valleys with their meadows and woodland structures stand out for their unique character and special beauty, forming an important biotope network area.
