Cycling is only allowed on designated paths from 1 April to 31 October.
The protected landscape area extends on the flat bottom of the narrow valley. The surrounding mountains belong to the Karwendel nature reserve. The landscape form of the Großer Ahornboden has been shaped by traditional agricultural use (alpine farming, cattle grazing) for a long time. Flat meadow areas are interspersed with isolated Sycamore Maple Trees (Acer pseudoplatanus) that are several hundred years old. There is also a very beautiful view of the surrounding mountains.
