Kojen-Moos

Nature Reserve

Description & Map

Summary

The Kojen-Moos in Riefensberg is the only bog in Vorarlberg that was not covered by glaciers during the last ice age. The bog complex, consisting of dwarf pine raised bogs, floating mats, and slope mires, was formerly used for peat extraction. Today, the Kojen-Moos serves as a habitat for typical animal and plant species of bog ecosystems.
