The Klädener Plage und Mildenitz-Durchbruchstal nature reserve safeguards a unique landscape, featuring the relict Klädener Plage lake and the near-natural Mildenitz river. This area is distinguished by Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's largest breakthrough valley, carved by the Mildenitz through the terminal moraine up to the Schwarzer See. The river maintains its natural dynamics, rich with vital deadwood. The Klädener Plage supports diverse communities due to sustained high water levels. This reserve is a vital component of the Naturpark Nossentiner/Schwinzer Heide, contributing significantly to both flora and fauna preservation, including its designation as an FFH and bird protection area.
