Description

The Haardtrand – Am Eichelberg Nature Reserve, located in the Südliche Weinstraße district of Rheinland-Pfalz, has been a protected area of regional importance since 1992. It preserves a characteristic landscape at the Haardtrand, west of Maikammer. A key feature of the area is the course of the Alsterweiler Bach (stream), which contributes to the diversity of habitats found here. The establishment of this nature reserve aims to maintain the specific natural characteristics of this region, including plant and animal communities adapted to the particular site conditions. It serves as a valuable refuge for native flora and fauna and plays a role in the broader biotope network. The primary goal is to ensure the long-term ecological function of the area by allowing natural processes to develop undisturbed.
