Bärenhöhle

Quiet Zone

Description & Map

Summary

The Bärenhöhle is an excavated cave that extends between the main dolomite in the north and softer limestone in the south. Its name suggests that large mammals once lived here. Today, the cave provides a habitat for smaller animals.

Description

Climbing activities endanger the nests and broods of the rock-breeding birds that live here. The bear cave is therefore closed from January 1 to July 31 in accordance with Section 44 (1) No. 2 of the Federal Nature Conservation Act (BNatSchG) to protect bird breeding.
