Description
The Arenberg-Dreigemeindewald nature reserve is located in the Alzey-Worms district of Rhineland-Palatinate. It preserves a diverse landscape along the Wiesbach stream, nestled within the Wiesener Randhöhen of the Rheinhessische Schweiz. At its heart is the near-natural Wiesbach valley with its stream and accompanying ash-alder riparian forest. Adjacent lowland areas and the valley-accompanying slope areas further characterize the protected site. These host various near-natural forest stands, interspersed with block rubble, rock, and dry areas. A special feature is the valuable semi-dry grasslands. The reserve is dedicated to preserving these rare and worthy-of-protection habitats and their characteristic flora and fauna, which are unique in this combination.
