Am Rothen Sand Nature Reserve, established 1994 in Rheinland-Pfalz, protects valuable nature along the Wildbach stream. It safeguards unique habitats and biodiversity in the Mainz-Bingen region.
The Am Rothen Sand Nature Reserve, located in the Mainz-Bingen district of Rheinland-Pfalz, was designated in 1994. It stretches west of Ingelheim's Wackernheim district, following the course of the Wildbach stream. The protection of this area is dedicated to preserving and developing its unique habitats, particularly the riparian and floodplain landscapes along the Wildbach. These environments provide a vital refuge for a diversity of rare plant and animal species adapted to moist conditions and the dynamics of a near-natural watercourse. The objective is to maintain the ecological function of the Wildbach as a connecting element and to conserve the characteristic natural landscape.
