Wulmstorfer Heide mit Bornberg

Résumé

The nature reserve “Wulmstorfer Heide with Bornberg” borders directly to the south on the “Fischbeker Heide” nature reserve of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg and covers an area of 272 hectares.

Descriptif

The “Wulmstorfer Heide” was formerly part of the barracks and military training area of the “Röttiger Kaserne.” The area is primarily characterized by diverse, gently rolling open spaces with heath and species-rich dry grassland vegetation, interspersed with mixed coniferous and deciduous forests. The “Bornberg,” at approximately 83 meters above sea level, is the highest point in the area. The nature reserve serves as the source area for the “Riethbach” stream as well as for numerous wetland habitats. To the east, it directly borders the “Fischbeker Heide” nature reserve, and to the south, the “Rosengarten-Kiekeberg-Stuvenwald” landscape protection area. Together, these three areas will form a connected natural unit, interacting with each other, complementing one another in terms of habitat, and thereby holding outstanding significance for species and habitat conservation. The goal is to preserve and develop the typical diversity of nature and landscape within the nature reserve and to make it accessible and experiencable for people.
