Welcome to the Black Forest biosphere area Designated as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve In Baden-Württemberg we refer to “biosphere reserves” as “biosphere areas”. These are regions in which the fruitful coexistence of people and nature is promoted and further developed. Cultural landscapes with their own unique characteristics that have grown over centuries have created valuable habitats for people and nature. Preserving these and finding the balance between natural cycles and use for regional value creation are among the central tasks of the Black Forest biosphere area.
