Popis
Riedried Nature Reserve, located southwest of Wörth am Rhein in the Germersheim district, was designated a protected area in October 1984. It is dedicated to preserving and developing unique wetland biotopes characteristic of the region. These include extensive reed beds, wet meadows, and large sedge areas. These valuable habitats provide a home for numerous, often rare and endangered plant species, and serve as crucial breeding, resting, and feeding grounds for diverse wildlife, particularly birds, amphibians, and insects. The protection of Riedried ensures the conservation of its ecological functions and its importance as a reference site for scientific studies on wetland ecology in Rhineland-Palatinate.
