Popis
The Lever Teich-Lever Bruch nature reserve preserves valuable habitats in the Rahden-Diepenau Geest valley. It protects moist to wet grasslands, species-rich wet meadows, and small water bodies. These areas are essential for rare and endangered animal and plant species, including meadow birds and white storks, which find crucial stepping stones and foraging grounds here. The area serves as an important hub in the regional biotope network, also thanks to its high floristic diversity, especially in the southern wet meadows. Protected habitats also include wet, moist, and rich meadows, pastures, carr forest areas, and bushes, as well as the development of typical wet meadows in the northern section. It also contains valuable fen soils and bog gels of high scientific importance. Its unique character and outstanding beauty in the wide valley of the Großer Dieckfluss contribute to its exceptional significance.
