Monte Brento

Fauna-Flora-Habitat area within the Natura 2000 network and is one of the protected areas that make up the Sarca River Park. Eastern slope of Monte Brento (Lower Sarca Valley), a limestone formation characterised by imposing, almost vertical rock faces and the scar left by a massive landslide. An exceptional limestone rocky environment, with pioneer vegetation growing in the cracks and fissures of the rock.

The site is in a completely natural state of conservation. The rocky walls are topped by dry grassland ledges with patches of thermophilous beech woodland, while at their base extends a forest composed mainly of black pine. The site is of significant national and/or provincial importance due to the presence and reproduction of endangered animal species, important glacial relicts, and species that are exclusive to and/or characteristic of the Alps.
