More than half of the nature park is covered with forest and, alternating with picturesque villages and towns , fields, hedges, meadows, vineyards and bodies of water , significantly characterizes the area's character. In the northeast, the nature park borders Thuringia, while the Main forms the bridge to the Steigerwald Nature Park in the south. Magical hiking tours and varied cycling routes lead through untouched nature to historic castles and enchanted palaces .
