Popis

The Grambower Moor nature reserve in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is a significant raised bog. Once shaped by centuries of peat extraction, the area has been actively rewetting and renaturing since 1994. The primary aim is to restore the ecological functions of this valuable habitat and promote the typical flora and fauna of an intact bog. The moor features two idyllic bog lakes and provides a crucial refuge for specialized plant and animal species. It is particularly important as a breeding ground for cranes, which find undisturbed conditions here. The extensive renaturation efforts create the conditions for the development of diverse bog vegetation and contribute to climate protection. A circular trail and a bog nature trail allow visitors to learn about the unique bog landscape and its history. An accompanying exhibition offers further insights into the moor's past use and the ongoing conservation efforts.
