The occurrences of wild orchids, gentians and pasqueflowers are particularly noteworthy. The open areas are maintained by extensive grazing with sheep, which preserves the typical landscape of the juniper heaths and promotes biodiversity. The calcareous grasslands and juniper heaths of the Eusberg offer ideal conditions for light- and warmth-loving species. In addition to orchids, many butterflies, wild bees and grasshoppers can be found here, which in turn provide food for reptiles such as the sand lizard and birds such as the red-backed shrike. The area is part of a traditional cultural landscape that has been created through centuries of extensive use.
