The Comthureyer Berg Nature Reserve is a valuable sanctuary within the Feldberg Lake District. It preserves a unique, spontaneously grown forest on sandy moraine remnants, exposed by the Godendorfer Mühlenbach. This area is home to a remarkable diversity of flora and fauna. Protection specifically targets the floristically rich coniferous forest with pines and birches, complemented by beeches and a dense shrub layer of hazel, juniper, and aspen. Rare ground vegetation thrives here, including flat-branched clubmoss, green-flowered and common wintergreen, one-flowered wintergreen, and spotted and fox's-tail orchids. The waters of the Godendorfer Mühlenbach provide habitat for fish species such as burbot and spined loach. The birdlife is also prominent, with pied flycatcher, woodcock, kingfisher, black woodpecker, and great spotted woodpecker. Comthureyer Berg is also part of the "Sandergebiet südlich von Serrahn" FFH area and the "Wald- und Seenlandschaft Lieps-Serrahn" bird sanctuary, highlighting its significant ecological role.
