The Boissower See and southern Neuenkirchener See nature reserve lies within the Schaalsee Biosphere Reserve, an important European Bird Sanctuary. This area protects a unique, narrow, partly marshy erosion valley connecting Boissower See and Neuenkirchener See via a stream. Its diverse habitats include extensive reed belts, vital slope forests, and spring-fed swamp forests. Additionally, protected marsh and mineral soil areas contribute to the varied landscape. The reserve provides a crucial habitat for numerous bird species and offers valuable insights into natural ecological processes. A hiking trail along the east bank and an observation tower allow for quiet appreciation of this protected environment.
